We use the two curricula of Godly Play, and Living the Good News in our church school. Godly play is story based and interactive, based on the concepts of the Montessori method of teaching. Our children learn the stories of our Christian Faith from both The Old and New Testaments in an environment which promotes wonder and inquiry, while allowing them to experience "hands on" to help promote individual learning. Living the Good News is a curriculum which incorporates the Church Year Calendar, and follows the lectionary assigned readings from week to week. When incorporated with Godly play, our children are able to follow the changing seasons of the church year, and be " in synch" with the other members of the congregation and with our corporate worship. Music, both sung,
using hand bells and other rhythm instruments help to round out our
educational experience. The instruction and guidance given to our children by their Sunday school teachers is a gift of love. We have been blessed with very enthusiastic teachers this year. This Sunday school year is off to an exciting and joyful start. We are thankful to Mary Macomber for volunteering to coordinate and lead our Christian education. Please check our “Sunday School News” bulletin board in the parish hall to see what is happening in our classrooms. Thank you to our teachers for your commitment to our young people, and to our parish for support of this program. |
